Paul O. Ditty, age 70 of Delano, born Jan. 11, 1935 in Minneapolis; passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005.
Preceded in death by parents, Perry and Cecilia.
Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Ardella (Korb); his children, Dean (Peggy) of Eden Prairie, Joan (Ted) Moonen of Buffalo, David (Angie) of Maple Grove, and Jeanne (PJ) Hanson of Delano; grandchildren, Paul, Ali, and Jacqui Ditty, Kyle Moonen, Max and Lexi Ditty, and Toby and Tori Hanson.
Also survived by brothers, Rich (Donna), and Tom (Barb); sisters, Therese Borrell (Jerry), Carol Hemberger (Dick), Mary Jane Grengs, Nancy Stevens (Jim), and Catherine Kraemer (George), and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Paul grew up in Delano and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education from Ellendale Teacher’s College, Ellendale, N.D.
It was in North Dakota that he met the love of his life, Ardella Korb, his partner and best friend through 45 years of marriage.
Paul excelled at football, basketball, and baseball at Delano and Ellendale, and coached many young athletes in these sports during his high school teaching career in Wimbledon, N.D., Alsen, N.D., Glyndon, and Wayzata.
He moved into a sales career in 1969, and rose rapidly through the executive sales ranks from regional manager to vice president during a 24-year career for Advance Machine Company of Spring Park and Plymouth.
He was a veteran and advocate of Minnesota Amateur Baseball, playing 23 years for his home town Delano Athletics town team in the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. He competed in many playoffs and state tournaments with Delano and other teams as a drafted catcher.
He will be fondly remembered as a coach, teacher, manager, and mentor for countless students, team-mates, sales reps, friends, and family members.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano.
Reviewal was Monday, Dec. 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
The Iten Funeral Home in Delano handled the arrangements.
