Mary C. McDonough obituary, 7/24/05


Mary C. McDonough, age 84 of Waverly, died Sunday, July 24, 2005.
She was born March 28, 1921, the daughter of John and Florence Rosemeier Davidson.
Mary grew up in Gray Eagle, and graduated from Gray Eagle High School.
She was united in holy matrimony to Eugene McDonough “Mac” June 1, 1946 at the Basilica in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with seven children.
Mary and Eugene ran a grocery store in Waverly called “Mary’s Cash Grocery” during the mid 1960s.
Mary was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Waverly. She loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, a good Irish get-together, and families that came for Memorial Day celebrations.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents, John and Florence Davidson; sister Kathryn McQuiston; and grandsons Troy Rieland and Daniel McAlpine.
She is survived by her children: Rita (John) McAlpine, Helen (Daniel) Rieland, John McDonough and friend Barbara Sohns, Michael (Susan) McDonough, Thomas McDonough, Harry McDonough, and Dale (Mary) McDonough, 21 grandchildren; and 20 great- grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly with the Rev. Timothy Cloutier officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday afternoon and evening, July 26 at the church, and continued Wednesday, July 27 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers were Mary’s grandsons: Patrick McAlpine, Mark McAlpine, Darin Rieland, Nathan Rieland, Andrew McDonough, Adam McDonough, Dale McDonough Jr., Jacob McDonough, and Joseph McDonough.
Honorary bearers were Margaret Webb, Judy Callahan, Susan Peterson, Andrea Rieland, Tanya Luhmann, Kelly McDonough, John Carpentier, Jennifer Carpentier, Jesse Carpentier, Veronica Fasching, Wessley Karau, and Curtis Karau.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
