Arthur R. Zitzloff obituary, 9/23/05


Arthur R. Zitzloff, age 69 of Delano, died at his home Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 after a four-year battle with cancer.
He was born March 21, 1936 to Arthur and Mary (Topel) Zitzloff in Minneapolis.
An active person, Arthur served the community of Delano in a variety of ways. He was a fireman for 34 years, and a member of the Delano Sportsmen’s Club, Delano 4th of July Committee, Delano Catholic Community, Knights of Columbus, and the Delano Athletic Club. He was honored as Delano Citizen of the Year in 1996.
Arthur was employed at Superior Plating in Minneapolis for 45 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, golfing, and going to the casino with family and friends.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, JoAnn; his parents, Arthur and Mary Zitzloff; brothers Vernon Zitzloff, Albert Zitzloff, Eddie Zitzloff, and Leonard Zitzloff; and sisters Ruth Teager, Effie Linfors, Mryna Barfknecht, Lida Ruud, and Margaret Buboltz.
He is survived by his children, sons David and Dorothy Zitzloff, Mark Zitzloff and special friend Kaylene Long, and Gary and Jeanne Zitzloff, all of Delano; and daughters Jill and Bill Tetrick of Moundsview, and Pam and Brian Diem of Willmar.
Arthur is further survived by grandchildren Bradley and Stacy Zitzloff, John and Toni Zitzloff, Stephen Zitzloff, Julie Zitzloff, Jason Zitzloff, Matt Tetrick, Nathan Tetrick, and Britta Diem; great-granddaughter Brooke Zitzloff; sisters Janette and Bernard Otten, and Mary Lou Clough and special friend Dee Wetter.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, Sept. 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano with the Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends took place Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, and continued at the church Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the Mass.
Honorary casket bearers were Arthur’s grandchildren.
The Iten Funeral Home in Delano handled the arrangements.
