Ruth Irene Cook obituary, 9/23/06


Ruth Irene Cook, age 81, of Litchfield, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
Ruth was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Blue Earth, the daughter of John Edwin and Lorena Louise (King) Cook.
Her first years were spent in Princeton. She moved to Meeker County in the fall of 1929, and attended grade school in Districts 15, 13, and 42 in Darwin. She graduated from Dassel High School in 1943, and enjoyed attending her class reunions.
Ruth attended the Mission Covenant Church until it closed, and later attended the Church of the Nazarene.
Her life was spent in serving others. Many years were spent babysitting; and for 15 years, she volunteered at the Emmanuel Home.
Ruth enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and teaching Sunday school.
In January 2001, Ruth entered Gloria Dei Manor, and then the Emmanuel Home Sept. 7, 2006.
She was preceded in death by her mother, in 1951; her father, in 1963; and her sister, Mae, in 2003.
Ruth is survived by cousins Larry and Mary Ann Paschke of Merrill, Ore., and Betty Rubier of Portland, Ore.; along with many friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Litchfield, with the Rev. Gary Worthington officiating. Interment was in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield.
Visitation took place from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Arrangements were by the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
