Loretta A. Eckstrom obituary, 6/14/06


Loretta A. Eckstrom, age 87, of Watertown and Mayer, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born May 24, 1919 at St. James, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Lydia E. (Beck) Warling. Loretta was baptized June 22, 1919 at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church in St. James, and confirmed June 10, 1934 at the same.
Loretta married Reinold (Ray) V. Eckstrom Aug. 7, 1935, at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church in St. James.
For more than 30 years, Loretta cooked in the Watertown-Mayer School system. She also loved to bake bread for her many friends.
She sang duets with her husband and sister for more than 50 years, and was very active in church affairs.
Loretta enjoyed traveling to Mexico and New York. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; son-in-law Roger Weiland; parents Albert and Lydia Warling; sisters Linnea Madsen and Luverne W. Warling; and brothers Lennart Warling and Lawrence Warling.
She is survived by a son, Jerome Eckstrom of Mayer; a daughter, Marilyn Weiland of Waconia; grandchildren Jeff and Becky Weiland of Plymouth, and Jennifer and Tom Perlinger of Waconia; great-grandchildren Katie and David Weiland and Phil Perlinger; a sister, Lucille Anthony of Faribault; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, June 19 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Beth Johnson officiating. Interment was in East Sveadahl Lutheran Cemetery in St. James.
Casket bearers were Loretta’s grandchildren and godchildren, Jeff Weiland, Jennifer Perlinger, Tom Perlinger, Leora Ask, Terry Ludwig, and Debbie Hultengren.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
