Donald William Farenbaugh obituary, 9/6/06


Donald William Farenbaugh, age 67, of Lynn Township, McLeod County, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Donald was born Aug. 11, 1939, in New Ulm, the son of Jerome and Catherine (Fank) Farenbaugh. He was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Donald received his education in Hutchinson, and attended Hutchinson High School.
He was united in marriage to Sharen Kay Cassens July 25, 1959 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Derek and Renee.
Donald and Sharen resided and farmed in Lynn Township, McLeod County; sharing 47 years of marriage.
Donald held employment as a herdsman for Don Jergens, near Biscay, then owned and operated his own farm in Lynn Township. He also worked for Frederickson’s Well Company and Barricks Well Company in Hutchinson.
He attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, and was a member of the Hutchinson Lions Club.
Donald enjoyed horseback riding, attending horse shows, and was a member of the Hutchinson Saddle Club, and the Minnesota Golden Riders. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
Most of all, Donald enjoyed spending time with his family. From holidays to doing chores, he was with a family member, making a ruckus.
Donald was a devoted husband. He and Sharon were each others’ life, and did everything together. They were the best partners at everything from dancing, fishing, and taking care of their animals, to taking care of each other.
Donald attended his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and took them fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed being with them so much, you would have thought that he forgot he wasn’t a kid himself.
Donald was very caring. He made sure his family was taken care of and had a good time doing it.
He is survived by his wife, Sharen Farenbaugh of Lynn Township; daughter Renee Erickson and her husband, Scott, of Hutchinson; grandchildren Tina Farenbaugh, Miranda Farenbaugh, Nigel Erickson, Caleb Erickson, Isaak Erickson, Lesly Ruzicka, and Rachael Ruzicka; and great-granchildren Kyrra Farenbaugh, and Tate Farenbaugh.
He is further survived by his siblings, Jerome Farenbaugh of Mesa, Ariz., Veronica Caswell of Darwin, Harry Farenbaugh and his wife, Vivian, of Cedar Mills, Dorothy Lindenberg and her husband, Jack, of Crystal River, Fla., Patty Mraz and her husband, Terry, of Biscay, Leonard Farenbaugh and his wife, Mary, Jo of Darwin, Kathy Doring and her husband, Bruce, of Dassel, and Mary Jo Rosenow and her husband, Ralph, of Hutchinson; as well as nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Catherine Farenbaugh; a son, Derek Farenbaugh; sister-in-law Mary Farenbaugh; brother-in-law Gordon Caswell; nephews Kevin Farenbaugh and Robert Farenbaugh; and niece Cynthia Farenbaugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with the Rev. Bill Sprigler officiating. Organist was Bev Wangerin, and song leader was Bobbi Ludewig. Hymns included “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Song Of Farewell,” “Ave Maria,” and “ I Am The Bread Of Life.”
Honorary casket bearers were Chuck Miller, LeRoy Barrick, and Rick Hawes.
Casket bearers were Larry Kleespies, Larry Caswell, Mike Beasley, John Stueber, Glen Farenbaugh, and Bryce Cassens.
