LuVerne Lucille Heiskary obituary, 1/23/06


LuVerne Lucille Heiskary, age 77 of Blaine, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006.
She was born April 28, 1928 in Albion Center, Wright County, the daughter of Olga and Charles Engelman.
Services were conducted Friday, Jan. 27 at Christ Lutheran Church in Blaine, with Pastor Margie Guelker officiating. Interment was at Morningside Gardens in Coon Rapids.
Casket bearers were Bruce Anakkala, Russell Engelman, Paul Engelman, Tristan Heiskary, Dawn DiMartino, and Ev Otto.
LuVerne was born into a farming family and lived in Wright County throughout her childhood. She later moved to live and work in Minneapolis.
In her early 20’s, LaVerne traveled to California and lived in Sunnyvale for three years.
After returning to Minnesota, she and Andrew Heiskary were married. Their wedding took place at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake Sept. 6, 1952.
A few years later, they bought a home in Blaine, where they have lived for the past 47 years.
Throughout her life, LuVerne enjoyed gardening, especially flowers; travel, nature, home decorating, needlework, watching classic movies, public television, music, and shopping for unique gifts. Her kindness and thoughtfulness will always be remembered by those close to her.
Survivors include Andrew, her husband of 53 years; children Steven Heiskary (Margaret) of Lino Lakes, Doug Heiskary of Spring Lake Park, and Darlene Heiskary of Minneapolis; grandchildren, including Tammy, Melissa, Tristan, and Alaina; brother, Harvey Engelman of Albion Center; sister Lorene Pletcher of Mora; and sister-in-law Virginia Engelman of Eden Prairie.
LuVerne was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Allen, Marion, and Earl.
