John Roman ‘Jack’ Hertel obituary, 4/28/06


John Roman (Jack) Hertel, age 65 of Maple Grove, died Friday, April 28, 2006.
He was born Feb. 28, 1941 in Stevens Point, Wis.
John was raised in Winsted, and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1959.
He attended the University of St. Thomas, and graduated from the University of Minnesota.
John served in the US Army from 1962 to 1965 in Okinawa, Japan.
He was employed by Dictaphone Co., Minneapolis; Boeing, Seattle, Wash.; IBM, Minneapolis; and retired from the US Postal Service, Minneapolis, in 1998, after 17 years there.
John lived in the Maple Grove area for the past 26 years.
He is survived by siblings Mary Jo Smuda of North Palm Beach, Fla., Jane Campbell of St. Paul, Jerry and his wife, Toni DeRosier of St. Paul, Jim and his wife, Kathy of Winsted, Carol and husband, Don Kluk of Rapid City, S.D., Rosanne of Winsted, and Frances and husband, Doug Tieman of Sinking Spring, Penn.; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts.
John was preceded by his parents, Leo and Genevieve (Miller) Hertel, and a brother, Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, May 5 at 11 a.m., with gathering of family and friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church in Winsted. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
