Evelyn E. Gongoll obituary, 5/14/07


Evelyn E. Gongoll, age 79, of Mayer, died Monday May 14, 2007 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Bill Ernst, in Young America.
She was born Oct. 29, 1927 in Camden Twp., Carver County, the daughter of Adolph J. and Magdalena L. (Stender) Loehrs. Evelyn was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America Nov. 13, 1927 by the Rev. M. F. Abrahm; and confirmed at the same church April 6, 1941 by the Rev. W. P. Kramer.
Evelyn was united in marriage to David C. Gongoll June 19, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America by Rev. Kramer.
A loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma, Evelyn was employed by Salkin and Linoff in St. Louis Park for over 30 years. She also worked hand-in-hand with her husband on the farm.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening, bird watching, playing cards, and visiting with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Adolph and Magdalena Loehrs; sister Eliza Leikam; and brothers Erwin, Edwin, Ernst, and Eldon Loehrs.
Evelyn is survived by her loving family: children and spouses, Faye and Bill Ernst of Young America, ReNaye and Doug Molnau of Young America, and Fred and Julie Gongoll of Mayer; grandchildren Eric and Teri Ernst, Amy and Larry Corrigan, Kristin Gongoll and fiancé Eric Iverson, Rachel Gongoll, David F. Gongoll, Cody Molnau, and Tara Molnau; and great-grandchildren Adam Ernst, Adriana Ernst, Riley Corrigan, and Christopher Corrigan.
She is further survived by brothers and sister-in-law, Elmer and Arsylvia Loehrs of Mayer, and Erland Loehrs of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances Hoese of Glencoe, and Lois and Gordon Plocher of Watertown; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  
Funeral services took place Thursday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Revs.. Lucas V. Woodford and Harald Schoubye officiating. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m., and continued Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers were Eric Ernst, David F. Gongoll, Cody Molnau, Adam Ernst, Stephen Hoese, and Dean Loehrs.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
