Gloria Marie Holmberg obituary, 9/14/07


Gloria Marie Holmberg, age 67, of Cokato, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 at her home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1939 to Elmer and Doris Nelson. Gloria was raised in Cokato and attended Murback County School before graduating from Cokato High School.
Following high school, Gloria continued her education at Albert Stockman Beauty College in Minneapolis.
She was united in marriage to Allen Holmberg Oct. 18, 1958, whom she met while roller skating at the Cokato Roller Dome. They began their life together as beauticians in the Twin Cities until 1961, when they moved to Cokato. Gloria continued her career as a beautician in her home, while Allen farmed.
Gloria enjoyed flowers, homemaking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Allen of Cokato; daughters Lorene (Bob) Bonine of Stillwater, and Vanessa (Mark) Sjobeck; and grandchildren, Matthew and Marie Bonine, and Collin and Alexandra Sjobeck.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Vernon Nelson.
Funeral service took place Thursday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at North Crow River Lutheran Church, rural Cokato, with the Rev. Mike Nelson officiating. Music was provided by Lynda Peterson and Harvey Peterson. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Brian Holm-berg, John Boline, Jeff Holmberg, Oscar Majava, Vernon Nelson, and Roland Nelson.
Arrangements were by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
