Bernice Susan Nix obituary, 8/14/07


Bernice Susan Nix, age 78, of Glencoe, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born March 21, 1929 in Arlington, the daughter of Nicholas and Frances (Biehl) Haupt. Bernice received the sacraments of baptism, first communion, and confirmation at the Church of St. Mary in Arlington.
After graduating from the Arlington High School in 1947, Bernice furthered her education at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1949.
She was united in marriage with Joseph Nix June 18, 1957 at the Church of St. Mary.
Bernice touched people’s lives in quiet, special ways. Her passion for life, positive attitude, welcoming smile, and helping hand will be greatly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph Haupt; and sisters-in-law Bette Haupt and Janet Haupt.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Joseph Nix of Glencoe; children, Timothy Nix (wife Ann) of Plato, Margaret Nix of Munich, Germany, Mary Degn (husband Randy) of Delano, and Susan Dahinden (husband Gregory) of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Joseph Nix, Elizabeth Nix, Shannon Nix, Andrew Nix, Lauren Degn, and Katherine Degn; brothers John Haupt of LeSueur, and Frank Haupt (wife Mabel) of Arlington; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Bernice’s life took place Friday, Aug. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with Fr. Anthony J. Stubeda officiating. The organist was Lavon Kielkucki, and the song leader was Teresa Kuester. Interment was in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Arlington.
Visitation, parish prayer service, and a Council of Catholic Women rosary service took place Thursday evening, Aug. 16 at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
Serving as casket bearers were David Schmitz, Dennis Nelson, Richard Hayes, Russell Petersen, Orville Elling, Roger Guenningsman, and Tony Kielkucki.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe handled the arrangements.
