Catherine “Cathy” Vandermey

Catherine “Cathy” (Pepin) Vandermey, age 75 of Delano, formerly of Genola and St. Paul, passed away unexpectedly, prayerfully surrounded by her family, Wednesday, May 30, 2007.

Cathy was actively involved with the American Legion Auxiliary, volunteered at the Delano Health Care Center, the Delano Senior Center, and the local Red Cross Blood Drives. She was known and recognized by many customers of Snyder Drug of Delano during her many years as an employee.

Cathy and Bob were co-owners of the Genola Bar from 1976 to 1984. They were founding members of the Genola Athletic Club, which developed the Genola Memorial Park. The flag in the park was placed in honor of their deceased son, Rick.

Cathy was preceded in death by her son Richard, “Rick.”

She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters Janet Vandermey, and Terry Michik; sons, Joe and Nita Vandermey, and John Vandermey; grandchildren, Lisa, Brandi, Danielle, Jackie, Doug, Melissa, Cole, and Ian; 7 great grandchildren; Sister Rose and Jerome Mason; sister-in-law Julie Pepin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Rev. Michael Miller officiated at the services with interment in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
