Verna Violet Kyllonen Obituary – 02/09/08


Verna Violet Kyllonen, age 89, of Annandale, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale.

She was born March 4, 1918, to Adolph and Hannah (Solmonson) Laitinen.

Verna married Ben Kyllonen Dec. 13, 1941, and he preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1993.

Verna was a bookkeeper for the West Albion Creamery, and then for Alama & Bajari Construction.

She was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where she served as organist for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Annandale History Club, Pioneer Park, and the Red Hat Society.

In addition, Verna served many years as French Lake Township clerk.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth and his wife, Dyane of New Hope; daughter Erla of Annandale; five grandchildren, Kara, Teri, Kristine, Troy, and Rebecca; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, French Lake with the Rev. Edward Groop officiating. Margaret Groop provided the music for the service. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery, French Lake Township.

Friends called Thursday, Feb. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale. Visitation continued Friday, one hour prior to services at the church.

Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
