Diane ‘Dee’ Johnson Obituary – 06/19/09


Diane Kay “Dee” Johnson, age 59, of Maple Lake, formerly of Howard Lake, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born in Bismarck, ND Aug. 26, 1949, to Karl and Katherine (nee Bieber) Offenbacker.

Dee graduated from Litchfield High School in 1967.

She married Bruce Boehland June 16, 1968. They were blessed with a daughter, Darla, and a son, Barry.

Dee worked for many years at Tonka Toys. She was also employed as a kitchen aid at the Howard Lake High School, and at Gage Marketing in Howard Lake. She began working for Walter G. Anderson company in 1993, and was still employed with them at the time of her death.

Dee married Donovan Johnson July 16, 1994, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

When Dee wasn’t working, she enjoyed going to casinos, concerts, craft shows, eating out with friends, shopping, listening to music (especially Elvis Presley), taking trips to Branson with Don, and being with her grandchildren.

Dee is survived by her husband, Don; children Darla Yager (friend Wade Heins) of Buffalo, Barry (Elise) Boehland of Veseli, Judy (Mark) Boeckers of Buffalo, and Jim (Kelli) Johnson of Montrose; grandkids Melissa, Christopher, Matt, Amanda, Jordan, Bailey, Austin, and Abbi; and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service took place Wednesday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Maple Lake. Burial was at Howard Lake Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
