Adeline E. Hoenk Obituary – 5/20/2010


Adeline E. Hoenk, age 101, of Watertown, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Elim Home in Watertown.

She was born April 15, 1909, in Camden Township, Carver County, the daughter of Otto and Emma (Mielke) Schoenke. Adeline was baptized May 30, 1909, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crow River by Theo Rolf, and confirmed March 23, 1923, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Theo. Rolf.

Adeline was united in marriage to Arthur Lohrke Oct. 18, 1933, in Chaska. They made their home in New Germany, and had a daughter, Lavonne. Arthur died March 21, 1951.

Adeline was united in marriage to Clyde Hoenk April 17, 1955, at St. Mark Lutheran parsonage in New Germany.

They moved to St. Cloud and after retiring, spent 29 winters in Arizona. In May 1994, they moved to Elim Meadows in Watertown. Adeline entered the Elim Home March 15 of this year.

Adeline and Clyde loved to dance, belonged to several dance clubs, and won many dance competitions. Adeline was also an avid card player, especially bridge, and played every time the family got together. Adeline’s family was very special to her.

In addition to her first husband, Arthur, Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Emma Schoenke; second husband Clyde Hoenk; sister Elsie Kutzke; brothers Herb and Art Schoenke; brothers-in-law Bill Kutzke, Gustave, Henry, August, Robert and Andrew Lohrke; and sisters-in-law Lena Goede, Sophia Harloff, Sarah Cutcher, Della Stender, Florence Putman and Vera Krause.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lavonne and Orville Foust of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Michael and Beth Foust, Ronald and Tamie Foust, Dennis and Julie Foust, Kathryn and Wade Baluski, and Richard and Joanne Foust; great-grandchildren Joshua and Dawn Foust, Jessica and Travis Winter, Anne Foust, Crystal Foust and fiancé Chad Paumen, Jenna Foust, Heather Foust, Jeffrey Foust, Samantha Foust, Nathan Baluski, Megan Baluski, Ryan Foust, and Allison Foust; great-grandchildren Chase, Carter, Madelyn and Wyatt; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Saturday May 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment was at Church of God Cemetery in Bergen Twp., Lester Prairie.

Visitation was Friday, May 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Casket bearers were Michael Foust, Ronald Foust, Dennis Foust, Kathryn Baluski, Richard Foust, and Wade Baluski.Honorary casket bearers were Beth Foust, Tamie Foust, Julie Foust, and Joanne Foust.
