David J. Krueger Obituary – 10/29/2010


David James Krueger, age 61, of Hutchinson, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at his home, losing a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 31, 1948, in Stewart, MN, the son of Orville and Alice (Schiro) Krueger. Dave was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Gethsemane Lutheran Church ELCA, in Dassel.

David received his education in Dassel, and was a graduate of the Dassel High School class of 1966.

He entered active military service in the US Army Aug. 27, 1968, and served his country during the Vietnam War, receiving an Honorable Discharge Aug. 22, 1970.

Dave was united in marriage to Lotus Gravley July 17, 1971, at the Evangelical Free Church in Willmar. This marriage was blessed with two children, Michelle and Jeremy.

Dave and Lotus resided in Cokato for four years, and then moved to Hutchinson in 1976. They shared 39 years of marriage.

Dave held employment at Riebe Sod Co. Inc. in Darwin, the University Lab in Dassel, and then at 3M in Hutchinson for over 33 years, until he retired in October 2006.

He attended the Evangelical Free Church in Hutchinson.

Dave and Lotus were members of the Saturday Night Cruisers.

In his younger years, Dave enjoyed waterskiing with his children. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle, and enjoyed restoring cars, and snowmobiling. A licensed pilot, Dave truly enjoyed the time he spent flying, and cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife, Lotus Krueger of Hutchinson; daughter Michelle Krueger and (Matt) Miller of Chaska; son Jeremy (Tracy) Krueger of Rice; and grandchildren Piper Miller, Ella Miller, Devin Krueger, and Aubrey Krueger.

He is further survived by his father, Orville Krueger of Dassel; sisters RuthAnn Krueger of Cokato, Mary (Roger) Skoog of Hutchinson, Jan Krueger of Cokato, Judy (Jerry) Peterson of Austin, TX, Eugenia (Glen) Rix of Hutchinson, Sharon Krueger of Annandale, Carol (Russ) Hayes of Maple Grove, Barb (Dennis) Schneider of Zimmerman, Sue (Tom) McGary of Crystal, Paulette Krueger of Maple Grove, and Becky (James) Mathews of Glencoe; brothers John Krueger, Joe Krueger, both of Cokato, Paul Krueger of Maple Grove, and Mark (Cheryl) Krueger of Indianapolis, IN; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Schiro) Krueger; and a brother, Dan Krueger.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Assembly of God Church in Hutchinson, with Pastor Lanny Penwell officiating. Shirley Holtz was the pianist, and soloist Deb Penwell sang “Find Us Faithful.” Congregational hymns were “Just As I Am,” “In The Garden,” and “Jesus Loves Me.” Interment was in the (Lake) Arvilla Cemetery in Dassel.

Casket bearers were Tim Krueger, Charlie Hayes, Jason Skoog, Angela Peterson, and Becky Mathews.
