Helen E. McRoberts Obituary – 7/13/2010


Helen E. McRoberts, age 95, of Howard Lake, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center.

She was born July 25, 1914, in Middleville Township, to Martin and Emilie Stueven. Helen was baptized Aug. 30, 1914, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake and was confirmed March 24, 1929.

She married Elmer McRoberts Nov. 30, 1938. This marriage was blessed with two children: son Wayne, currently of Forest Lake, and daughter Diane (Edwin) Borg, of Howard Lake.

Helen and Elmer lived and farmed in Victor Township.

Helen enjoyed gardening, quilting, and flowers. She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, participating in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, sewing guild, and leading a Bible study class.

Helen is survived by her children; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Amelia Dorma of Annandale; and sisters-in-law Edna Stueven and Leona Stueven; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Herbert, Carl, Albert, Adolph, and Awalt; sisters Della Ruge, Freida Birkholz, Emma Engel, Thresa Rogness, Elvera Wolff, and Rosella Wolff; and a sister-in-law, Eva McRoberts.

The funeral service took place Friday, July 16 at the St. James Lutheran Church of Howard Lake. Interment followed at the Howard Lake City Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
