Katherine C. Volness Obituary – 8/18/2010


Katherine “Katie” Christine Volness, age 51, of Arlington, formerly of Dassel, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born July 25, 1959, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Arnold and Jean (Onnen) Volness.

The family lived several places across the United States while Katie was growing up. She graduated from high school in Elgin, IL.

Katie worked for Met Life for several years, and then returned to Minnesota, settling in Dassel and working at HTI in Hutchinson.

She is survived by her two sons, Samuel and Luke Poquette; her mother, Jean Volness of Arlington; brothers David of Arlington, and Paul (Laura) of Cokato; nephews and nieces Jacob, Angela, Bailey and Joshua Volness; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Katie was preceded in death by her father, Arnold C. Volness Sept. 21, 2002; her brother, Steven C. Volness April 1, 1999; and an infant son, Jacob Poquette.

Funeral services took place Sunday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Chapel in Winsted, with the Rev. Mark Loder officiating. Interment was at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Cemetery in Cokato.

Casket bearers were David Volness, Paul Volness, Jacob Volness, Sam Poquette, Victor Ruiz, and A.J. Guerra.

The Chilson Funeral Home of Winsted assisted the family with arrangements.
