Benedict J. Weinbeck Obituary – 5/19/2010


Benedict J. “Gentle Ben” Weinbeck, age 86, of Winsted, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

He was born March 15, 1924, in Winsted, the son of Henry and Anna (Rohling) Weinbeck.

Ben was united in marriage to Irene Mary (Munoz) Oct. 23, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale, CA.

Ben is survived by his loving family: wife Irene; children, Charlene (John) Lueck of Winsted, Joseph (Kathy) Weinbeck of Blaine, Cheri (Tom) Olive of Logandale, NV, Wyman (Susie) Weinbeck of Burlington, IA, Benny (Darcy) Weinbeck of Long Lake, Maria (Robert Owens) Weinbeck of St. Louis Park, Julie Baruch of Garland, TX, Henry (Kristin) Weinbeck of Portland, OR, and Jason Weinbeck of Scottsdale, AZ; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by siblings, Sister Alexis Weinbeck, School Sisters of St. Francis, of Campbellsport, WI, and Margaret (Jerry) Nouis of Spring Lake Park; and son-in-law John Guider Sr. of North Oaks.

Ben was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Guider; sister Mary LaMothe; brothers John, Eugene, Albert, and Leo; and parents Henry and Anna Weinbeck.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with interment at the church cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, May 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, and continued Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Kennedy Baruch, Tony Weinbeck, John Guider Jr., Gregg Guider, Bernie Lueck, Michael Weinbeck, Joe Weinbeck and Jason Weinbeck.

The Chilson Funeral Home of Winsted is proud to have served the family.
