Ellen L. Janikula Obituary – 11/6/2011


Ellen Louise (Adickes) Janikula, age 87, of Watertown, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, in Shakopee.

She was born Nov. 25, 1923, the first child of Albert and Ruth Adickes. Ellen attended school in Franklin Township, and graduated from the Delano Public High School in 1941.

She was married to Archie Janikula Oct. 1, 1946, in Watertown. The couple farmed all their married life, were co-owners of the Montrose Store and Locker Plant, and Ellen also provided day work for several families.

She is survived by her loving family; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Peggy Janikula; grandsons Jeremy, Bradley and Cody; sisters-in-law Gloria and Neva Adickes; many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; parents Albert and Ruth Adickes; and brothers Erwin and Stanley Adickes.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m., and continued Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements were handled by the Iten Funeral Home of Watertown.
