Arleen S. Kieser Obituary – 10/25/2012


Arleen Sarah Kieser, age 85, of Winsted, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 25, 2012, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

Funeral services will take place Monday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, followed by interment at Winsted Public Cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will be further visitation Monday morning, Oct. 29 at the church, one hour prior to services.

Casket bearers will be John Farber, Neil Hecksel, Willie Roufs, Jerome Roufs, Rick Menden, and Marlow Zellmann.

Arleen was born Oct. 24, 1927, in rural New Germany, the daughter of Henry and Lillie Pawelk Lohrke.

She attended Carver County School District 74 through the eighth grade, graduating June 12, 1942.

Arleen and Walter F. “Wally” Kieser were joined in holy marriage Aug. 8, 1946, in New Germany. God blessed their marriage with four sons.

Arleen was formerly employed at Green Giant doing seasonal work, St. Mary’s Hospital in Winsted in the laundry department, and also did day work cleaning houses.

She was a faithful, longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted, and also belonged to Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Arleen was also a member of the auxiliaries of the Lake Mary VFW and Winsted American Legion.

Arleen enjoyed her flower gardens, and was fond of Sunday night bingo and going to garage sales.

She is survived by loving sons: Harlan D. Kieser, Darryl W. Kieser (fiancée Sherry Paschke), and Todd A. Kieser, all of Winsted; a brother, Donald Lohrke of Winsted; other relatives; and many friends.

Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. “Wally” Kieser in 1986; a son, Kevin Kieser in 2006; and by her parents.
