Marcella Fruetel Obituary – 10/21/2013


Marcella Marie Fruetel, age 85, of Glencoe, formerly of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.

Marcella Marie Fruetel was born Nov. 15, 1927, at the family’s home in Bergen Township, Lester Prairie. She was the daughter of Edward and Stella (Packer) Fruetel.

Marcella was baptized in the Christian faith as an infant Jan. 8, 1928, by Rev. H.B. Witzke at the family’s home, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth March 29, 1942, by Rev. J.H. Bunge at the Evangelical and Reformed Church, now Prairie Community Church in Lester Prairie.

She helped on the family farm and received her education at a country school by Lester Prairie.

Marcella was a lifelong resident of Lester Prairie until 1996, when she needed assistance with her daily care, and became a resident of Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.

Marcella worked at 3M in Hutchinson for 33 years and three months. She retired April 18, 1986.

Marcella was a lifelong member at Prairie Community Church in Lester Prairie, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild and also taught Sunday school.

You would always find Marcella helping people in whatever way possible, and volunteered for many organizations. She would also shuttle people around.

In the early 1990s, Marcella was honored as a WCCO Good Neighbor.

She enjoyed flowers, auctions, and antiques.

In the early years, she was called the “greeter” at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.

Marcella treasured the time spent with her family and friends and truly loved being with children.

Marcella is survived by her sister, Mildred Feltmann of Norwood Young America; brother Ralph Fruetel of Rifle, CO; sisters-in-law Vera Fruetel of Lester Prairie, Sonja Fruetel of Cosmos; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Stella Fruetel; siblings Elmer Fruetel and his wife, Rosella; Gilbert Fruetel and his wife, Rosy; Leslie Fruetel and his wife, Helen; Howard Fruetel and his wife, Elaine; Virgil Fruetel; Wilfred Fruetel and his wife, Phyllis; and Lenard “Mickel” Fruetel.

Funeral services took place Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Prairie Community Church in Lester Prairie, with interment at the Lester Prairie City Cemetery in Lester Prairie.

Rev. William Baldwin officiated, the organist was Alice Nowak, the soloist, Thomas Fruetel, sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Congregational hymns were “In The Garden” and “Abide With Me.”

Casketbearers were Kenny Feltmann, Kenny Polifka, Larry Fruetel, Rick Fruetel, Gene Martin, and Jay Schmitz.

Arrangements were by the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Lester Prairie.
