Leanne S. Mochinski Obituary – 7/6/2013


Leanne Sue (Berry) Mochinski, age 54, of Lester Prairie, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Saturday, July 6, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born July 2, 1959, in Glencoe, the daughter of William and Phyllis (Hess) Berry. Leanne was baptized as an infant at Church of Christ in Howard Lake.

She received her education in Lester Prairie, graduating with the Lester Prairie High School class of 1977.

Leanne was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Mochinski Dec. 15, 1978, at Church of Christ in Lester Prairie. They shared over 34 years of marriage.

Leanne and Mike made their home in Lester Prairie, and their marriage was blessed with three sons, Christopher, Eric, and Mitchell, as well as five grandchildren; Kina, Noah, Cora, Connor, and Caden.

In addition to being a loving homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, Leanne worked at Butler Buildings – Lester’s Inc. in Lester Prairie, Hutch Tech in Hutchinson, and Goodrich Company in Burnsville.

She was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato.

Leanne’s faith was the center of her life. She was a gentle and quiet lady, until she was given a task to accomplish.

Leanne enjoyed visiting with others and touched many lives. She also enjoyed riding the motorcycle, horseback riding, traveling, the fall colors, and yard work, especially tending to her flowers. Leanne cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Mochinski of Lester Prairie; sons Christopher Mochinski and his wife, Brooke, of Montrose, Eric Mochinski and his wife, Calla, of Cologne, and Mitchell Mochinski and his significant other, Laura Kahmeyer, of Green Isle; and grandchildren Noah Mochinski, Connor Mochinski, Kina Mochinski, Caden Mochinski, and Cora Mochinski.

Leanne is further survived by her siblings, Judy Engelke and her husband, Orlin, of Plato, Keith “Skip” Berry, Sherry Mahlstedt and her husband, Les of Lester Prairie, Cindy Machemehl and her husband, Joel of Lester Prairie, Kelly Berry of Glencoe, and Lynise Weiderholt and her husband, Alan, of Winsted; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Phyllis Berry; and brothers Billy Berry, and Scott Berry.

A celebration of Leanne’s life took place Wednesday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato with the Rev. Bruce Laabs officiating. Marie Landskroener was the pianist, and Spanish guitar music was also performed as special music. Congregational hymns included “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.”

Leanne’s grandchildren; Noah Mochinski, Connor Mochinski, Kina Mochinski, Caden Mochinski, and Cora Mochinski, were honorary urn bearers.

Leanne’s sons, Christopher Mochinski, Eric Mochinski, and Mitchell Mochinski, were urn bearers.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Paul-McBride Chapel Lester Prairie, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
