Pearl Jane (Haas) Bruesehoff, age 81, of Norwood Young America, passed away quietly Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.

She was born March 13, 1933, to Victor and Rosa Schultz, in their home near Belle Plaine. Pearl was baptized April 7, 1933, by the Rev. P. J. Haupt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine; and confirmed in her faith by Rev. Haupt April 14, 1946.

Pearl attended grade school at District 42 near her home, and high school in Belle Plaine. She graduated from Ridgewater College and worked as an executive secretary/office manager.

Pearl was united in marriage to Arvid Haas July 26, 1952, by the Rev. O. F. Herder at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Their marriage was blessed with seven children.

Pearl and Arvid farmed in Belle Plaine for 12 years. In 1965, they bought a larger farm south of Norwood, where they farmed until Arvid’s death Jan. 11, 1989.

Pearl was united in marriage to Lester Bruesehoff Sept. 18, 1993, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. The Rev.Mahlum performed the ceremony. Pearl and Lester bought a home in Norwood, where they lived together until Lester’s death April 14, 2007. Pearl continued to live in the home until she suffered a stroke in May 2014.

Pearl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, where she was an active member of the LWML Ladies Aid for many years and held multiple offices. Pearl was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cologne, where she attended services with Lester.

Pearl enjoyed making mission quilts and collected baby clothes for mission layettes. Over the years, Pearl made more than 500 quilts for missions.

She loved spending time with family and extended family, and at her lake home at Howard Lake. Pearl enjoyed traveling (Alaska was her favorite trip) to multiple countries, in addition to the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, sewing, gardening, and going out to lunch with friends.

In addition to her husbands, Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sheryl Jean Haas in 1971; a son, Lyndon Mark Haas in 2009; brothers Gerald and John Schultz; brother-in-law Johnny Stoeckmann; and son-in-law John E. Murphy, MD.

Pearl is survived by her daughters, Susan Murphy of West Covina, CA, Sandra (Gene) Horman of Glencoe, and Lois (Tim) of Bismarck, ND; sons Allan (Christine), and Paul (LeAnn), all of Norwood; grandchildren Samuel (Tonia) Otto of Hutchinson, and Jasmin Haas of Norwood; step children Gail (Rod) Stein of Brooklyn Park, John Bruesehoff of Norwood, Gary Bruesehoff of Victoria, and James (Missy) Bruesehoff of Warren, MI; step-grandchildren Eric Stein, Michael Stein (Amanda), Amy Stein, Chad Bruesehoff and David Bruesehoff; brother Lyle (Carol) Schultz of Belle Plaine; sisters-in-law Marcella Schultz of Arlington, Charlotte Schultz of Lakeville, and Malinda Stoeckmann of Norwood; in addition to other friends and relatives.

The funeral service took place Saturday, May 31 at 11 a.m. Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Phil Wagner officiating. There was visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.

Serving as casket bearers were Sam Otto, Cathy Stein, Lisa Bougie, John Bruesehoff, Eric Stein, and Michael Stein.
