Michael D. Jorgensen Obituary – 8/26/2014

Michael David Jorgensen, age 58, of Waskish, MN, formerly of Dassel, won his battle with pancreatic cancer and entered the arms of his Heavenly Father Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014.

He was born March 14, 1956, to Maurice and Velma Jorgensen. Michael graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School in 1974.

He was married to Heidi Ann (Thompson) June 23, 1978 at St. Luke’s in Bloomington. Together, they raised 12 children, and countless foster children through the years.

Mike and Heidi lived in Dassel until 1995, when they moved to Waskish, MN. Mike loved spending time with his family and in the great outdoors, and truly enjoyed being able to combine those two passions when spending time on the lake.

He was also extremely active in working with children in the Kelliher School District, and preaching and working as pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Waskish. Mike always enjoyed working on sermons and helping members of the church whenever he was needed.

He will be loved and missed by many, and his faith continues to live through the people who shared his life.

Mike was welcomed into heaven by his father, Maurice Jorgensen; an infant sister; and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi; his mother, Velma; his children, James (Rosella), Desirée (Patrick), Matthew (Kortney), Magalie, Tamara (Chris), Aaron (Rachel), Alex, Micah, Kaitlyn, Derek, AnnMarie, and Jacob; 12 grandchildren; siblings Al (Sherri), Dan (Uta), Dave (Kay), and Laura; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of Mike’s life took place Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Waskish.
