Jean C. Lennander Obituary – 8/30/2014


Genevieve Kathryn “Jean” Colton Lennander, age 89, of Coon Rapids, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids.

She was born April 26, 1925, in French Lake Township, to John and Jessie (Bartlett) Colton. Jean graduated from Cokato High School with the class of 1943.

She was married to Warren Russell in 1943, and was later divorced; they farmed together near Cokato.

In 1976, Jean was united in marriage to Curtis Lennander in Minneapolis; they lived in Minneapolis until moving to Coon Rapids in 2008.

Jean worked as a bolt threader for Lewis Nut and Bolt for 20 years, and also as a waitress at Kellers Drug Store for several years.

She had a passion for writing, photography, crafts, and gardening.

Jean is survived by her children, Ron Russell of Blaine, Brent Russell and his wife Bernadette of Blaine, and Loretta Hook of St. Cloud; brother Victor Colton of Sandstone; eight grandchildren; and many loving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lennander; son Harlan Russell; and brothers Lessley and Roger Colton.

Funeral Services took place Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, with the Rev. Ruth Hograbe officiating. Burial followed at Grace Southside Cemetery in Annandale. There was visitation one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers were Brent and Connor Russell, Andrew and Adam Murray, Bernie Hook, and Tom Lennander.
