Franziska H. Vogt Obituary – 3/17/2014


Franziska Henrietta Hubertina (Graupmann) Vogt, age 89, of Glencoe, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.

She was born March 4, 1925, in Glencoe, the daughter of Ernest and Alvina (Milbrandt) Graupmann.

Franziska was baptized as an infant March 22, 1925, by the Rev. E. Kolbe; and later confirmed in her faith as a youth May 14, 1939, by the Rev. Alf. R. Streufert, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.

She received her education in Glencoe, graduating with the Stevens Seminary Class of 1943. Franziska continued her education at the US Cadet Nursing Corps, and Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, receiving a registered nurse degree in 1946.

She was united in marriage to Albert Vogt Jan. 24, 1947, by the Rev. Alf. R. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. The couple made their home in Glencoe, and their marriage was blessed with three children, Allen, Charlene, and David.

Franziska and Albert shared over 46 years of marriage, until Albert passed away Feb. 17, 1993.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Franziska also worked as a nurse for 32 years. She was employed at the Glencoe Hospital from 1947-1968, and then with the McLeod County home health care and public health programs, retiring in 1988.

Franziska then worked for the McLeod County Correctional Facility until 1998.

A member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, she served on the altar guild, and ladies aid.

Franziska was also a member of the Glencoe VFW Auxiliary Post 5102 in Glencoe, and the Business and Professional Women group.

Franziska enjoyed reading, helping in the garden, and trying new recipes. Her nursing career gave her the opportunity to help others and make many friends.

Her constant companion was her cat, Tiger.

She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Franziska is survived by her children, Allen Vogt and his wife, Beryl, of Cook, Charlene Arens of Arco, and David Vogt of Glencoe; grandchildren Amanda Dago and her husband, Achille, of Omaha, NE, Matthew Vogt and his wife, Elizabeth, of Minneapolis, Jeremiah Arens and his wife, Jamie, of Sioux Falls, SD, Joseph Arens and his wife, Tina, of Tyler, Jewel Schnieder and her husband, Mike, of Red Wing, and Brianna Anderson-Vogt of Eagan; and great-grandchildren Bradyn, Adrianna, Alexus, Natalie, and Micah.

She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Caroline Vogt of Glencoe; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Albert, Franziska was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Alvina Graupmann; grandson Gabriel Vogt; and brothers Ernest Graupmann, and Orville Graupmann.

Funeral services took place Friday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, followed by interment at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.The Rev. Ronald Mathison officiated at the services. Dawn Wolter served as the organist.Congregational hymns were “Children Of The Heavenly Father,” “The King Of Love My Shepherd Is,” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”

Franziska’s grandchildren; Amanda Dago, Matthew Vogt, Jeremiah Arens, Joseph Arens, Jewel Schnieder, and Brianna Anderson-Vogt, were her casket bearers.
