Marvin F. Swartzer Obituary – 10/30/2015


Marvin F. Swartzer, age 75, of Annandale, formerly of Delano, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Elim Home in Watertown.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Interment will take place at a later date.

Marvin was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Montrose, to George A. and Susan (Gallus) Swartzer.

He was a graduate of Delano High School in 1959.

Marvin served in the Army from June 1959 to June 1961, and was called back in October 1961, until August 1962.

He was a member of the Delano American Legion.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Laurie Ernest; son Dennis Swartzer; parents; brothers Jack, George Jr., and Donald; sister Gladys; brothers-in-law Tom Kuka Sr., Leo Blackketter, Emmett Lynch, and Louis Bury; sisters-in-law Mary Helen Swartzer, Marguerite Swartzer, and Sandra Swartzer; daughter-in-law Christine Swartzer; and step-son Steve Ernest.

He is survived by his children, Donald Swartzer and Patty Bignell; grandchildren Samantha, Alesha, and Daniel Swartzer, and Dennis and Sidney Bignell; the mother of his children, Catherine Swartzer; brothers and sisters Marian Kuka (twin sister), Walt and Irene, Lorraine Lynch, Betty Bury, Joe and Dorothy, Luverne Blackketter, Bob and Mary Lynn, Sue and Ed Windsperger, Eugene and Anthony, Rosemary Swartzer, Ervin and Renee and Pete and Alice Swartzer, and Bill Harolson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
