Dennis M. Davis Obituary – 8/17/2016

Dennis Michael Davis, age 64, of Watertown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016.

He was born Feb. 28, 1952, in Minneapolis, to Richard and Dorothy (Vick) Davis.

Dennis graduated from Mound High School and was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. He served in the Army from 1972 to 1975.

After his honorable discharge, Dennis enrolled in Dunwoody Institute and became a tool and die maker, a career he was in for over 40 years.

Gifted musically, Dennis was part of a band, and this part of his life led to him meeting the love of his life, Annie (Stewart). He and Annie were united in marriage May 20, 1978, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran.

Dennis enjoyed spending time outdoors, and loved to hike and go camping.

A loving husband, dad and grandpa, Dennis possessed a dry sense of humor, and was known for “one liners.” Time spent with family was a priority, and he cherished that time, especially with his grandchildren.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Davis; a brother, Ronald Davis; a sister and brother-in-law, Patty Jo (Harold) Hollingshead; parents-in-law John E. and Eleanor M. (Gillispie) Stewart; and a brother-in-law, David Stewart.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Annie; children Dana (Brent) Koosmann, and Dominic Davis; grandchildren Cora, Kellan and Ellis; siblings Karin Davis, Alan Davis, and Wende Davis; aunts Dorothy Davis and Joyce Zabinski; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Darlene (Steve) Duske, Shirley Stewart, Mary (Scott) Heuer, and James (Ardis) Stewart; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Aug. 20 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to Mass. Interment with military honors followed in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were with Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
