Ernest E. Hillukka Obituary – 7/8/2016


Ernest (Ernie) Eino Hillukka, age 68, of Wolf Lake, MN, passed away suddenly Friday, July 8, 2016, due to heart failure, while on vacation in Kirkland, WA.

The funeral service will take place Monday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Cokato Laestadian Lutheran Church, 16144 20th St. SW, Cokato. Burial will be at Cokato Finnish Cemetery.

There was visitation Sunday, July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church, with devotion at 7 p.m., and visitation will continue Monday at 10 a.m., prior to the services.

Ernest was born Sept. 3, 1947 in Detroit Lakes, the eldest of three children born to Eino and Miriam (Hendrickson) Hillukka.

He was joined in marriage to Rauha Liisa Karvonen April 1, 1972. Ernie and Rauha lived on the family farm in Wolf Lake, MN for over 40 years.

Ernie spent his entire career at Minnesota Dairy Herd Improvement Association, and recently retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a son, Greg Hillukka.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Rauha Hillukka; three children: Jodi (Patrick) Tierney of Eden Prairie, Gary (Aimee) Hillukka of Cokato, and Julie (Jeffrey) Early of Kirkland, WA; a daughter-in-law, Jaclyn Hillukka of Cokato; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Helen) Hillukka of Buffalo; and a sister, Elaine (Rod) Nikula of Buffalo.
