LaMae M. Spaniolo Obituary – 4/15/2016


LaMae M. Spaniolo, age 70, of Lovettsville, VA, formerly of Howard Lake, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016.

She was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Minneapolis, to Fritz and Dorothy (Strei) Dangers, and grew up in the Howard Lake area. LaMae was a graduate of Howard Lake High School.

In her early years, LaMae was a travel agent, employed by North Central Airlines, Republic Airlines, and Liberty Travel among others.

While working at North Central, she met and married her husband, William Spaniolo, in 1972. Some years later, they hosted an exchange student from Argentina, Fernanda Dutari, and developed a strong, long-term relationship with Fernanda which remains to this day.

LaMae had a passion for animals, and raised numerous award-winning poodles. She was a longtime member of Poodle Club of America.

A longtime resident of Lovettsville, VA, LaMae was a manager at Blue Ridge Veterinary Clinic.

She also loved to travel, and made many overseas trips with her husband and other friends, including to Israel, Hawaii, Rome, Argentina, and others. In addition, LaMae very much enjoyed cooking, entertaining, counted cross stitch, and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and her parents.

LaMae is survived by her sister, LouAnn (Bob) Munson; brother Ricky (Carol) Dangers; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lynda and David Zischke; and sister-in-law Luanne Akin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A visitation/prayer service took place Tuesday, April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, MD. Burial will take place in Michigan.
