Dorothy M. Anglim Obituary – 12/9/2017


Dorothy M. (Escen) Anglim, age 96, of Champlin, formerly of Dassel, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017.

She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Dassel.

Dorothy worked for the University of Minnesota, where she met and fell in love with William Anglim. Bill and Dorothy were married July 12, 1947, and both worked happily at the University of Minnesota until retirement.

Most important to Dorothy was spending time with her devoted family, beating John at cribbage, Sunday phone calls with Henry and Barb, playing scrabble with Donna, Nancy and Laurie, and winning at bingo. She had a lot of wonderful friends at Brookdale Champlin, where she resided for 12 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William J.; sons William Jr., John, and James; parents, Carl and Mary Escen; brothers Adolph, and Donald; grandson, Ryan Gamber; and many other relatives and friends.

She was loved and cared for by her daughters, Carolyn (Richard) Backley, Nancy Anglim, and Kathleen (Gerald) Gamber; grandchildren, Richard Jr. (Angela), Christopher (Amber), Steven, Jessica, Matthew, Jacob, and Alexander; great-grandchildren Richard III, Kenneth and Isadora; niece, Sylvia (Philip) Holtz; nephew, Paul Escen; as well as Mary Carey and Patricia Stolle.

Her funeral service took place Thursday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. at Evans-Nordby Brooklyn Center (6000 Brooklyn Blvd), with interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

There was visitation Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, continuing Thursday one hour prior to the service.
