Jean Ramona Ertel, age 81, of Pennsylvania, formerly of Dassel, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at her home in Harbour Senior Living, Pittsburgh, PA.
She was born April 10, 1935, at Litchfield Hospital, Meeker County, to Henry and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Crowe.
Ramona was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin.
She grew up in Dassel, attended Dassel Elementary School, and graduated from Dassel High School in 1953. Ramona continued her education at St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul, graduating with a degree in elementary education.
Ramona married Robert J. Ertel, of Maple Lake, June 28, 1958. They met as students at St. Catherine’s and St. Thomas in St. Paul.
Ramona was active in her parish and prayer group. Most of all, she loved her Lord, spending time with family, and being involved in various activities at St. Winifred’s parish in Pennsylvania.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Bob; three children: Mark Ertel (Tracy), James Ertel, and Colleen Michaels (Leonard); four grandchildren: Robert Ertel, Stephanie Ertel, Lindsey Michaels, and Jamie Michaels; two brothers, James Crowe of Picayune, MS, and Thomas Crowe of Dassel; and two sisters, Susan Scherr of Sterling, VA, and Mary Meshbane of Austin, TX.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Ertel; and her parents, Henry and Margaret Crowe.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Feb. 8 at noon at St. Winifred’s Church, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
