Thomas Mathew Genty, age 55, of Winsted, and formerly of Minneapolis, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at his residence.
A celebration of life service will take place Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant.
There will be visitation at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.

Tom was born Feb. 5, 1962, in Winsted, the son of Richard D. “Dick” and Joan E. (Kirkwood) Genty Sr.
He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1980, and later from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in graphic design.
Tom was formerly employed at Ceridian Company as a payroll processor.
A very talented and creative person, Tom used these skills volunteering at various child care centers. He was also a past board member of the Aliveness Project.
Tom was a fabulous baker and enjoyed sharing his confections with others.
He will be greatly missed and always loved.
Tom is survived by his loving companion, Scott Schlaffman; mother Joan E. Genty of Winsted; siblings: Jan (Fran) Eggert of Winsted, Richard (Roberta) Genty Jr. of Chesterfiled, VA, John (Sharon) Genty of Waverly, Cindy (Steve) Ernhart of Buffalo, Terry (Al) Ohm Winsted, Kathy McGinn of Alexandria, and Maureen (Greg) Sevilla of Fayetteville, NC; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends, including special cousin Jacob Christianson.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Genty Sr. Feb. 7, 2011; and by a brother- in-law, Mike McGinn.
