Reinhardt Goerke, 90

Reinhardt Theodore Goerke Sr., age 90, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 25, 2017, with family by his side.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, July 1 at 11 a.m. St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo, with the Rev. Ryan Clark officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.

There will be visitation Friday, June 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Pastor Norm Hanan. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the services.

Casket bearers will be Amber Harmon, Patrick Harmon, Alex Goerke, Amara Ave-Lallemant, Kayla Goerke, and Alena Ave-Lallemant.

Reinhardt was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Chatham Township, Wright County, the son of Theodore and Clara (Bartels) Goerke. He was baptized Feb. 20, 1927, instructed in the Lutheran catechism, and confirmed in the Christian faith May 18, 1941, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Twp.. Pastor Kanning confirmed him and gave him Psalm 37: 5 as his confirmation memory verse.

Reinhardt grew up on the family farm near Rock Lake.

He served as a corporal in the US Army, 66th Chemical Company from 1951 to 1953, and was honorably discharged Jan. 16, 1957.

He was united in marriage to Delores (Kucera) of Silver Lake, Oct. 5, 1957, and they shared 59 years of marriage. The couple moved to Buffalo, and raised two children.

Reinhardt retired from Minnesota Rubber in St. Louis Park after working there for 35 years.

He enjoyed fishing and traveling, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, attending many of the activities involving his grandchildren.

In his spare time, Reinhardt enjoyed making gadgets and working in his garage. He will also be fondly remembered for making metal flowers, creating carvings, and crocheting a variety of animals.

Reinhardt also enjoyed taking his wife, Delores, to many county fairs, where she would enter her baking, and he would enter his carvings.

Reinhardt is survived by his wife, Delores; daughter Darlene and Daniel Ave-Lallemant of Hutchinson, and Reinhardt and Brenda Goerke, Jr. of Monticello; and grandchildren Amber and her husband, Patrick Harmon; Alex Goerke, Amara Ave-Lallemant, Kayla Goerke, and Alena Ave-Lallemant.

He is further survived by brothers Theodore (Gladys) of Osseo, Arnie (Ruth) of Maple Lake, and Victor (Lettie) of Wichita KS; sisters Evelyn Leahy of Buffalo, and Ruth (Donald) Woolhouse of Mesa, AZ; sisters-in-law Dorothy Linder of Grey Eagle, Gladys Casey of Annandale, and Sophie Schade of Glencoe; brother-in-law John Kucera of Silver Lake; and many other relatives and friends.

Reinhardt was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ervin Goerke; sister-in-law Sadie Goerke; and brother-in-law Kerry Leahy; other relatives and friends.
