Brenda Alice Hess, age 59, of Redondo Beach, CA, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at her home in Redondo Beach.
She was born Sept. 17, 1957, in Menomonie, WI, to Omar and Ethel Hess.
Brenda grew up in Cokato, and attended area schools. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
For the majority of her professional career Brenda was an RN at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. She was a beloved and respected member of the Cedars staff and at her memorial, many spoke heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for her friendship and their personal experiences shared with her.
Brenda loved her friends and family, travel, downhill skiing, and sailing the waters off California, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. She lived a life full of adventures and was dedicated to caring for the patients she served.
Brenda is survived by her four sisters, Mary Ann Ryan of Cokato, Katherine Jolin of Milwaukee, WI, Jane Ray of St. Paul, and Carolyn (Dr. Carl) Cole of Eugene, OR; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Timothy Jolin, and James Ryan.
A memorial service celebrating Brenda’s life took place July 18 at the Redondo Beach Center for Spiritual Living.
Her family and sailing friends will spread Brenda’s ashes on the waters off of southern California.
