Betty Jayne Housey, age 86 of Delano, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
A celebration of Betty’s life for family and friends will take place Saturday, Nov. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at her daughter’s home, 3025 Vega Avenue, Mayer.
Betty was born April 26, 1931, in Wisconsin, the daughter of Hilbert and Myrtle (Fibeig) Butzke.
She was a 1949 graduate of Ely High School.
Betty married Leonard Housey Sept. 12, 1949, in Ely. They had a son Randy, and daughter Robyn, and resided in the Ely area.
Betty enjoyed sled dog racing for many years.
She moved to Watertown in 1987, and worked at the laundromat in Waconia, and eventually at the Elim Home in Watertown for over 10 years.
Betty was a Girl Scout troop leader. She loved cooking and baking, sewing, reading, gardening, housekeeping and chatting with the residents at Elim.
Betty moved to Delano in 2010, and loved watching the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves on television. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Hilbert and Myrtle; and an infant son, Joseph.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Cathy) Housey, and Robyn (Gary) Rasset; grandchildren Anthony (Shannon) Housey, Kim Housey and special friend AJ Hart, Amanda (Charlie) Dillon, Nicholas (Karissa) Rasset, Corey Rasset and special friend Anna Smith, and Ethan Rasset; and great-grandchildren Cailin, Jacob, Bryson, Huntley, Wyatt, Zen, and Isaac; as well as many other relatives and friends.
