Alice Ida Merrill, 98, formerly of Dassel, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017.
A graveside service will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Thursday, Oct. 19 at 11:05 a.m. Family and friends should arrive at Fort Snelling assembly area #1 by 10:45 a.m. Lunch will follow at Bucca di Beppo in St. Paul.

Alice was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Minneapolis; the fifth of seven children.
Her lifetime spanned the Great Depression and World War II, making her part of the Greatest Generation. She lived most of her life in the Twin Cities area, but also lived in Arizona, and spent over 20 years living near Dassel.
Alice was a polite, happy, cheerful person who was a loving and caring wife and mother. She loved sewing and still used her sewing machine when she was in her middle 90s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; granddaughter Jennifer; and all six of her brothers and sisters. Her father passed away when she was in high school.
Alice is survived by her children, Scott, Donn, and LeeAnn; grandchildren, Mychal, Matthew, Alex, and Patrick; and great-granddaughter, Olivia.
