Kenneth E. Rosin, 86

Kenneth Eugene Rosin, age 86, of Gaylord, passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Waconia.

He was born May 30, 1931, in Lien Township, Grant County, MN, the son of Clarence and Elsie (Muetz) Rosin. Kenneth was baptized as an infant in May of 1931, at the Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN, by the Rev. Louis Rosin. He was confirmed in his faith as a youth Nov. 6, 1945, by the Rev. Walter Lorenz.

Kenneth received his elementary education at Grant County School, and was a graduate of Barrett High School. He furthered his education as a First Responder and in law enforcement.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Barbara Weibel July 19, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winsted. After their marriage, the couple resided in Winsted, Litchfield, and Gaylord.

Kenneth was employed as a Meeker County Sheriff’s deputy, and then as a Gaylord police officer, before retiring as police chief in 1991.

Kenneth and Barbara were blessed with six children. They shared 59 years of marriage.

July 22, 1953, Kenneth entered active military service and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Private First Class. He was honorably discharged May 23, 1955.

Kenneth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

He enjoyed woodworking, camping, Polka dancing, and gardening. Kenneth cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

When he needed assistance with his daily care, Kenneth became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Barbara Rosin of Gaylord; children Wayne Rosin and his wife, Deborah, of Charlotte, NC, Judy Mallory and her husband, Melvin, of Charlottesville, VA, Sandy Lange and her husband, Erik, of Coon Rapids, Joyce Rosin of Henderson, Lyle Rosin and his wife, Amy of Bowie, MD, and Jay Rosin and his wife, Natalie of Elgin, IL; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by siblings, Virgil Rosin and his wife, Kathleen, Lois Fagerberg, Delores Johnson, Ellerd Rosin and his wife, Janice, Marlys Swetberg, Gerhard Rosin and his wife, Jan, Marilyn Gatz and her husband, Paul, Eunice Weibolt, Kathryn Schmeig and her husband, William, and Donald Rosin; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elsie Rosin; and brothers, Orvin Rosin and Leonard Rosin.

The funeral service took place Monday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with interment in the Winsted City Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post 433.

The Revs. James King and Al Luehmann officiated at the service. A duet was given by Allen and Matt Carlson, and soloist Laura Hahn, performed “Beautiful Savior.”

Casket bearers were Paul Fagerberg, Dean Dorholdt, Steve Gatz, Scott Rosin, Greg Rosin, LeRoy Rosin, Kevin Rosin, and Todd Rosin
