Clarence Seemann, 93

Clarence Armin Wilhelm Seemann, age 93, of entered his heavenly home Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with the complications of diabetes.

He was born June 12, 1923, on the family farm in Bergen Township, McLeod County, to Malinda (nee Schmalz) and Arthur Seemann.

Clarence was baptized June 18, 1923, by the Rev. Baumhoefner. His sponsors were Armin Marks, Elsie Tueholke and William Bruckschen.

He was also confirmed in the Christian faith March 28, 1937, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bergen Township, by the Rev. J.A. Schert. Clarence’s Confirmation memory verse was “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears My Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24

Clarence graduated from Lester Prairie High School, and lived in that same farm house and farmed the family farm three miles west of Lester Prairie until the age of 72, while raising four children, along with a menagerie of farm animals.

He had a passion for watching sports, especially the local Lester Prairie Bulldogs, Minnesota Vikings, Lynx, and Twins.

Clarence married the love of his life, Lorraine Radtke, Oct. 20, 1995. The couple made their first home together in Winsted, eventually moving back to their hometown of Lester Prairie. They spent their golden years traveling, visiting with friends and family, enjoying their many grandchildren’s activities, and playing cards.

The last four years, Clarence and Lorraine have resided in Westview Acres Assisted Living Facility, with Clarence eventually moving to Waconia Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Clarence is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Seemann of Waconia; is greatly loved and will be missed by his children: Robert Seemann (Ayelet) of Eden Prairie, Paul Seemann of Excelsior, MerriLea Kyllo (Barry) of Lester Prairie, and Laurie Slama of Crystal.

He was very proud of his grandchildren, Dr. Rachel Braden, Brad Slama, Karlea Kyllo and Shani Seemann; and great-grandson Calvin Braden.

Clarence is further survived by his sister, Deloris Seemann; brothers-in-law Verndale Selchow and Reuben Ernst; step children Barb Radtke, Joe Radtke (Catherine), Kim Lasky (Rod), LuAnn Weisenburger (Byron), Jon Radtke (Colleen) and Bill Radtke (Michelle); and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Bernice Ernst and LorJean Selchow; uncles; and aunts.

Funeral services took place Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Travis Loeslie officiating. Interment followed at St. Pius Cemetery in Glencoe.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the services.

Casket bearers were Ronald Ernst, Kevin Selchow, Gary Selchow, Joe Radtke, Jon Radtke, and Bill Radtke.
