Marvin Joseph Sikkila, age 81, of Buffalo, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017.
He was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Kingston, the son of Hjalmer and Dagmar (Waataja) Sikkila.
Marvin graduated from Litchfield High School.
He worked as a carpenter throughout his life, retiring from the Carpenter’s Union.
Marvin was a member of the Marine Corps Air Reserve, Kingston American Legion Post 483 and their Funeral Honor Guard.
He loved airplanes, firearms, hunting, fishing, traveling, and time spent with his family. Marvin was a personal pilot and enjoyed flying in Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Dagmar Sikkila; brothers Clifford, Harry, and Earl; sisters Irene, Ethel, and Ellen; first wife, Barbara Sikkila; second wife, Delores Libor Quast Sikkila; a son, Matthew Sikkila; and a grandson, David Sikkila.
Marvin is survived by his children, Michael Sikkila of Annandale, Jodi Braun of Wadena, and Mark Sikkila of Annandale; grandchildren Paula (Matt) Salmela of Cold Spring, Joseph Sikkila of Cold Spring, Jill (Ron) Bantau of Elbow Lake, Joanna Braun of Fergus Falls, and Julie Braun of Wadena; and great-grandchildren Jasper, Aria, Casey, Connor, Monica, Chase, Dominic, and Kamryn.
He is further survived by a brother, Arnold Sikkila of Maple Grove; Delores’ children; Juanita Kerrigan Marvin’s bingo buddy; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Sara Vanderpan officiating.
