Stephen Stahlke, 69

Stephen Dwain Stahlke, 69, of Delano, passed away peacefully Monday, July 10, 2017, 10 days prior to his 70th birthday.

Steve’s funeral will take place Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano, with visitation two hours prior to the service at the church.

Steve graduated from Delano High School.

He served in the United States Army, defending his country from September of 1967, until September of 1969; honorably discharged, and a member of the reserve.

Steve fought prostate cancer for three and one-half years. He had so many positive attributes; leaving a legacy to so many loved ones close to him.

A successful businessman, Steve operated closely with his wife, Sue, from The Big Woods Saloon in Loretto, to the Juke Box Pizza in Delano; and later spending 15 years running Glass Doctor in St. Louis Park.

He was an excellent carpenter, building and remodeling numerous houses for his family. During the last portion of his life (pushing through pain), Steve completely remodeled their home to leave his wife, Sue and family a beautiful piece of his vision they can call home.

He was also an artist, with an eye and passion for wood work and metal creations.

To many of Steve’s friends, he was known as the life of the party and never ran out of jokes to keep everyone entertained.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sue Stahlke (his best friend and love of his life); three children: Angela (Titus) Mhiripiri, Bryce (Crystal) Stahlke, and Ashley (Nathan) Savage; and seven grandchildren: Olyvia, Kaleb, Nyla, Ellie, Emme, Elyn, and Hattie.

He is further survived by his two sisters, Julie (Mel) Bernick and Beth (Len) Logsdon; one sister-in-law Kay Stahlke; their children and extended family.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dwain and Ruth Stahlke; and brother James Stahlke.
