Joseph Anton Traen, age 59, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. at the Watertown-Mayer High School Gymnasium. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 to 6 p.m. in the gym, prior to the Mass.
Memorials preferred. Arrangements are with the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
Joe was born Jan. 27, 1958, in Canby, MN, to Lawrence and Rose Adelle (Gregoire) Traen.
He graduated from Canby High School in 1976, went on to Willmar Community College, and graduated from St. Cloud State University.
Joe wrestled throughout his school career. He achieved a bachelor of science degree in physical education, and a master’s degree in general education. He continued his passion for wrestling into his professional career by being a coach and mentor.
Joe was kind-hearted, hardworking, and dedicated in everything he did. He touched countless lives through teaching and coaching. He exuded a quiet confidence, along with being known as a reliable and competitive individual.
Joe’s hobbies outside of the school consisted of anything with the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. The main love of his life was his family.
Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deb; sons Adam and Andy; and siblings Kathy (Dick) Duis, James (Sarah) Traen, Mary (Wayne) Sirie, Mike (Diane) Traen, Marie (Joe) Morelli, and DeAnn (Paul) Wilmes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rose Adelle Traen.
