Margaret (Peggy) Anderson, age 84, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Dassel, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Signature Health Care Center in Fort Myers, joining her infant daughter, Elizabeth, and parents Harold and Ruth (Cain) Erickson.
There will be a memorial service at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel, Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Darren Olson officiating. Visitation will be offered one and one-half hours prior to the service at the church. Interment of the urn will be at the Lake Arvilla Cemetery
Margaret was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Minneapolis; baptized in the Christian faith and confirmed at the Chicago Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church in Center City, MN; and was presently a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Dassel.
She graduated from CHI-HI Lindstrom Center City High School; and received her education degree at the University of Minnesota.
Peggy was united in marriage to Howard Anderson June 20, 1964, at Brookdale Covenant Church in Minneapolis. They were married for 54 years.
Peggy’s life was centered around education. She was a charter member of the Hasting Education Association, served as president of Hutchinson Education Association, ran a day care center, and retired after 32 years of teaching. Her last 13 years in education was at the Dassel Elementary School.
After retiring, Peggy and her husband traveled 16 years throughout the US and Canada with their motor home and took time out to do several cruises. After motor-homing, they built a winter home in Fort Myers.
Peggy enjoyed entertaining, was an avid reader, attended Bible studies, enjoyed water aerobics, and cheered the Minnesota Vikings on for several years in the ‘Dome.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Howard Anderson; her daughter, Kirsten (Ryan) Johnson of Burnsville; brother David (Leif) Erickson of Lindstrom; and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy brought joy to many with her smile, determination, conversation, and faith.
