Roy F. Darsow, age 95, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday May 1, 2018, at his home.
He was born March 3, 1923, in Gaylord, the son of Carl and Wilhelmina (Damras) Darsow.
Roy was united in marriage to Geraldine Tupa Oct. 25, 1952, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe.
Roy was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus in Watertown.
He worked as an airline mechanic for Northwest Airlines, and also farmed for 51 years on a farm west of Watertown.
Roy was a proud veteran of World War II, part of the Army infantry.
He loved to play cards and chess; and he believed in living a healthy lifestyle, heart healthy diet, and exercise daily.
Roy also believed in keeping his mind active by completing games such as Sudoku and reading books.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; and his brothers.
Roy is survived by his loving family: daughters Cheryl (Steven) McLachlan of Duluth, and Charlene (Brent) Newman of Cloquet; son Butch (Kathleen) Darsow of Howard Lake; and grandchildren Sarah McLachlan, Allison (Evan) Schoenecker, Matthew McLachlan, Eric Newman, Benjamin Newman, and Emily Darsow.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Tony O’Neill as celebrant of the Mass. Interment was in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Watertown.
There was visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Casket bearers were Steve McLachlan, Brent Newman, Matthew McLachlan, Eric Newman, Ben Newman, and Evan Schoenecker.
