Gladys was born Easter Sunday, April 16, 1922, in Franklin Township, to Peter and Emma (Meyer) Huncha.
She was a homemaker and mother to her family, and immensely enjoyed working and tending her garden, growing varieties of flowers, especially begonias; canning the bountiful harvest, baking, and embroidery. Lots of carpet rags were made into rugs.
Socializing with friends over coffee was a highlight to Gladys’ day. She was an accomplished baker, and she possessed the ability to cut bars into perfectly sized portions.
Gladys enjoyed playing cards; solitaire was her game. Another pastime that she enjoyed was sitting on the front porch watching the cars go by.
Gladys was united in marriage to Roland Hayes Nov. 16, 1955, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano. This union was blessed with two children.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; her parents, Peter and Emma Huncha; and siblings Ambrose “Rastus” Huncha, Catherine “Toots” Hahnke, and Paul Huncha.
She is survived by her children: son Stephen Hayes, and daughter Judy (Dale) Paumen; sister-in-law Betty Huncha; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
