Charles J. “Charlie” Millerbernd, age 86, of Winsted, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted. Celebrants will be Father Anthony Stubeda and Father Paul Schumacher. Charlie’s granddaughters will be gift bearers. Urn bearers will be Craig Millerbernd and Charlie’s grandsons. Eulogy will be given by Alan Millerbernd, and the reader will be Cheryl Heimerl.

There was visitation at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Thursday, Dec. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:45 p.m.

Charlie was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Winsted, to Carl and Mildred Millerbernd. He was baptized, confirmed, and attended school at Holy Trinity Catholic School.

Charles served his country in the United States Army, part of the SVC Battery, 5th Field Artillery Battalion.

He married Barbara Ann Quast of Winsted May 26, 1962, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and together they raised five children.

Charlie worked with his brother, Ralph, as co-owners of Carl Millerbernd Machine Co. for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1990.

He had a wonderful sense of humor, good heart, and would assist anyone who needed his help.

Charlie was loved and cherished by his wife of 56 years, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a, brother; and daughter, Cathy.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Alan (Marette) Millerbernd of Lester Prairie, Tom (Candace) Millerbernd of Chaska, Jane (David) Schreiber of Big Lake, and Craig (Molly) Millerbernd of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Alex (Katie), Marissa (Nick) Hattling, Josh, Grace, Carter, Hallie, Seth, Clara and Anna; and great-grandchildren Nash and Shepard.

He is further survived by siblings Mary Ann, Donald, Ralph, Judy, Catherine, Elizabeth, Barbara and Eileen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
