Dorothy J. Mitchell, age 97, of Howard Lake, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake.
A life-long resident of Howard Lake, she was born Sept. 21, 1920, in rural Howard Lake.
In 1940, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Don (who survives her), by eloping to Delano. Just this past May, Dorothy and Don celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary.
Dorothy loved to sew, knit, crochet, travel and vacation in Arizona, bake goodies, and make home-cooked meals for family and friends. She also served as a long-time member of the Howard Lake American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, Don, Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda (Jim) Stavros, and Donna (Randy) Lindquist; her loving grandchildren, Cindy, Kim, Angela, Liza, Chris, and Anne; seven beloved great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Pauline Workman; siblings Willard, Ervin, and twin brother Donald; and son, Mike Mitchell.
Dorothy was loved by many and will be deeply missed. A “Celebration of Life” will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice.
