Lee Peterson, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at the age of 85.
Lee was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Chicago, IL, to Lincoln and Melanie (Schilling) Katter. At the age of 2, her family moved to Minnesota.
After graduating from Edina High School, Lee attended Grinnell College in Iowa for one year, and transferred to the University of Minnesota, where she met several lifelong friends as a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She majored in humanities and received her bachelor of arts degree in 1956.
Lee married Bruce M Peterson Oct. 31, 1959, and they settled in Cokato a few years later, where they raised two children, Dale and Brenda, and one awesome dog, Charlie.
Lee was a lover of the arts and once her children were in school, she took many additional classes in studio arts at St. Cloud State University. She enjoyed drawing, painting, screen printing, sculpting, and theater arts. She also enjoyed photography, and later wood carving, with Bruce.
In the late 1980s, she took a temporary receptionist position at the State Bank of Cokato and stayed for over a decade.
She was also very active in the community, from den mother to band booster.
Over and above all these accomplishments, Lee was a strong, tenacious woman, and a wonderful friend. She will be missed.
Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; parents, Lincoln and Melanie; and brother, Lincoln “Bropo” Bruce.
She is survived by her son, Dale Peterson; daughter Brenda Peterson Linzbach, her husband Matt, and granddaughters, Rachel and Melanie.
Per Lee’s request, there will be no service; a private celebration is being planned for spring 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Cokato Historical Society.
