Darla M. Yotter Obituary – 2/7/18


Darla Mae Yotter, age 73, of Grove City, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at the Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel.

She was born March 23, 1944, in Tracy, MN, the daughter of Sherman and Louella (O’Halloran) Kopperud.

Darla was baptized, and later confirmed in the Christian faith. She was previously a member of Newport Lutheran Church, and was currently a member the Dassel Church of Christ.

Growing up in Walnut Grove, MN, Darla graduated from the Walnut Grove High School in 1962. She then continued her education by attending the Mankato Business College.

Darla moved to St. Paul and was employed by St. Paul Book and Stationary as a comptometer operator.

She was united in marriage to Allen Dean Yotter April 8, 1967, in St. Paul. The couple made their home in numerous places in Minnesota, moving to Grove City in 2015, where they have since resided.

Darla was compassionate, caring, and loved to care for children. She operated her own daycare for many years.

She enjoyed shopping and browsing in stores, as well as nature, fishing, and bird watching. Allen, Darla, and their family have taken numerous camping trips around the country, wearing out tents and campers.

Darla was deeply loved by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Yotter, of Grove City; children, Dawn (Chris) Baldus, of Charles City, IA; and Dennis (Sheila) Yotter, of South West City, MO; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Donald Kopperud, of Hopkins, and Jim (Deb) Kopperud, of Zimmerman.

Darla was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral service took place Friday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Dassel Church of Christ, with Pastor Chris Halstead officiating. There was visitation for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the spring at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.

Arrangements were with the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.
